Happy birthday S.T.A.R.S ... already 4 years that this forum is running!

wow, it passed longtime already since i started to try building a small community around DotD in 2004 , after some attempt finally I setup a forum in mid 2005 with the help of forum-motion. It was the home of the first official Dotd Clan in war3 called clan d0s . I had the chance of leading clan d0s for a year but after some issues regarding my old Bnet Account the clan has been disbanded.
But we finally continued with forming new clans : Clan SBS in northrend, clan SAS azeroth and clan ZAF northrend . We had a popular community and forum was healthy , we also had a clan map project , but after came an obscure period all clans died with time and forum has been deserted due to lack of interest of dotd players and clan members ... but some people still stayed here to post stuff and animate this forum ... after some months I also had to go off for a while due to RL tasks and Sunny_D took the flag and was main admin of the forum , keeping it alive for more than a year and thanks to our veteran Asgard_Ragna, Lisianthus, Mishotaki, parad0x ,s3rius . And finally one day clan SMG saw the light of the days . Thanks to Sunny_D i was able to retrieve the forum admin functions .
In 2008 We had chance that one guy of the team , s3rius took the liberty to update the classic Dotd5 map , to revive it ; not stopping with that , he remade on a 'NotD' architecture a new DotD version. And finally the forum raised from the dead . But we had already lost a lot of good people during the battle , we won new ones but the strange thing was that Sunny_D disappeared from our screens , no one know what happened ...
Gaining more popularity , it have been a renewal for this community and the forum with new objectives . A few weeks after , s3rius took the lead of clan ZKS in Northrend after some months a new clan was born clan ZDC in Azeroth thanks to Mishotaki. Lisianthus actually is running a new map project called IOTD . From my side i am preparing the upcoming future Starcraft II community and forums on professional servers . The history doesn't stop here , i think that if we help each other we can make something really good and start ambitious project.
That was my point of view of what happened, i m sure some veterans will say some stuff

OMG Happy Birthday S.T.A.R.S!!!!!!!!!!!!

Time moves on so fast.... i remember when i joined, how much i wanted to find good players to play with me on DOTD 5.2F.... only to not ever play a single game with any of you... until recently with arix123 and Death_X_Magi.... only a couple years late Razz

(even if it was 5.3b, the hacked version by Kortes)

I still remember how we had that small community back in the days... until s3rius, a guy i had no idea who he was, showed us some of his work.... i still remember the first beta i played with him, there was like 24 classes, we were picking them out of 2 choppers and we were stuck at the choppers instead of being teleported on the map! LOL it's been a great ride... from a "meh! DOTD5.2f is still much better than this, but it has some potential" to "WOW! this is really fun to play!" to "OMG! i was supposed to go to bed 8 hours ago!"

So many things to remember.... Like my medal "causualty order of merit" for having my post edited by an admin that was trying to edit his own post.... so many things...

It's been a great ride to come up here, i hope that if it ever goes down, it'll go like a rolloercoaster and we'll have even more fun going down! ^_^

Sounds more like undead assault.

I remember my first weeks in clan d0s. At that time there were quite a few high-lvls around, but most were in d0s or affiliated with us..
I remember you, Sath, offering me to play some games with you to level me up.. at that time I was like "OMG the chieftain wants to level me small fry Shocked

When I then returned to announce the start of 5.3, I was surprised to even find some players still posting on the site. I think it was mainly the shoutbox where people wrote something.
But it turned out well. I guess the forum is now more active than it ever was.

I'd be great for the future if IOTD became popular, maybe Paradox finished his TtC and DotD 6 growed even more - with several hosted games on this site I'm sure the forum will be as busy as a bee hive Smile

After all, i was remembering DOTD STARS, not the early version of 6.0....

i searched for it... through my 830 maps... and found some interesting gems... like Dawn Of The Dead 6.3 Special by UN_Aquarius...

We can still play DotD 5.2F, just send me the map. Personally I'd hate to start at level 1 again but whatever lol. You guys are old gosh, I had no idea.

The oldest version I found in my folder is Dotd3v3.1b.
The next one is 4.1, which is the version I started to play with.

he would make satchels and claymores the entire game.. putting them in a big line... and the last 2 waves were entirely cleared using those, also with some rocket launcher fire ^_^

xD in the 4.x and 5.x vers engineer became the most important char i guess Razz

i still remember that back in the day, you would trade milk and cereals to the hobo for an UZI.....

in the later versions, it became the weed and lighter for a gatling gun...
