Someone please give me sugesstions to lower my ping while playing DOTD, its always between 2500-500

Get better internet.

Where do you live and which gateway are you using?
When you live in India and try to connect to a Canadian host (just a random example), then you hardly have any chance to get good pings.

Other than this.. don't download porn while playing or get better internet.

Lets see Im playing is Azeroth (Us East) and i live in North Carolina so i dont see any problems there, Lol bout the porn =P, and i prolly needs the better internets anyways -.-

plz tell me you're not from the University of North Carolina
back in the days, i would play Counter-Strike with people from there on their servers... they had very bad internet on campus.. anywhere they would connect they would get horrible pings.... so they had their own server... i got used to the ping and i was pwning them constantly

the server isn't online anymore... but i remember that fact.... their university's internet was extremely laggy...

NC in general is bad for the net it seems STOP DLING PORN + torrents while playing...

On a side note can't wait in the next 15-20 years we will have T1 or t3 don't remember which one .. once companies get down burying new cable

T1 download speeds have been attained a long time ago....
the upload speeds aren't there yet... but still... we shouldn't have to wait 15-20 years for that!

No I mean T1-T3 speeds in our homes =p not just universities with big ol' pipelines

check if your PC havent be infested by Virus , trojan , adwares or anything else .. that may affect a lot your connection.
Once you are really sure with viruses intrusion .. check that your in home line is good , or wifi don't try to go through 4 meters concrete walls and is at a good distance from your wifi base ...
Note that if you have 56k connection with your ISP , you will have high ping anyway ...

You should contact your ISP for more infos , your local line maybe is just weird and need some maintenance .. if you are paying for a decent service they should arrange that to make it work properly ..

Lol i dont d-load anything while im playing any games cause it causes it to lag -.- and its prolly a slow connection bbecause i live out in the country and my ISP doesnt have good coverage out here

ah you mentioned your out in the country.. are you on DSL?... I remember when we lived in the country we couldn't even get DSL and was supposed to have 56k >.> but it was more like 28.8 k

Yah i have DSL (Embarq) and it sucks and my CPU is virus free

A small help would be to get rid of unnecessary processes, and you can get rid of things you don't need like AIM/MSN/YAHOO even if your not logged on the computer still runs them. The problem could always be in your computer and not the internet make sure to get regular check ups with anti virus and stuff. Make sure no other programs are running except your WC3. If you play with using a banlist it does clog it slightly so be war if your using it. Turn off Firefox/IE as this causes huge amounts of room being taken on your computer.

But also using that i still only have like a 256 kb connection so right now im kinda unsure when i go down to florida i will be able to find out because i will have a different internet connection so we will see soon

Yea there is your problem 256k connection. Most people are playing with 512 so thats why your ping will be higher than some.

it still shouldnt be hitting 500+ lol my Dial up averages around 110.
Perhaps somebody is stealing your interwebz lol. but being in the country I doubt it ^^

Nah what it is is because he's so far from the switchboard it takes forever for his connection to hit the switchboard then be sent off to the pipe and finally to the server.. Also do you have a network/ more than one comp sharing your internet connection But your right it really shouldn't be 500+

After the power outage last night at my house my router/modem reset dropping my ping to under 100 so i found the problem it just needede a good reset but thanks to everyone for the advice and help

np , i hope this wil not come back ..

Its gonna come back sooner or later but i know how to fix it this time =) just unplug the modem for 5-6 hours while im sleeping =P

10 minutes should do the trick as well. ^^
