I've just tried to play some maps... but many aren't showing in my WC3 "create game" browser... including all of the DOTD Beta maps...

they are in there... i can only see 4 out of 8 games in the folder i use for the maps i host often...

i have no idea why they aren't showing anymore.. i'm up to date and reinstalled WC3 after i noticed today, no change... i redownloaded the map, no change... i still can't see the map to create a game...

i couldn't confirm if i can join a map i can't see in the "create game" list... nobody could/would make a game on Europe when i asked them...

i don'T know if it's only me or if other people are affected...

Try shortening the map path / the map name. When the map path exceeds a certain number of letters, the maps cannot be loaded/seen anymore. Though it doesn't seem to be a too long path... try anyway.

To me it sounded like you just wanted to play a game, not like you need someone to host to help you with a problem :0

This might be because of the new update...for some reasons it changed some stuff in the map folder that causes weired bugs.

it worked! i moved my folder from wc3/maps/download to wc3/maps and all my maps are showing again! hurray!

It was the length of the path name.
If you have something like that:
"C:/Programs/Warcraft 3/maps/download" - then it's ok, but if you have this:
"C:/Programs/My Files/Games/Blizzard/Warcraft/Warcraft 3/maps/download" then the file path is simply too long for WC3 to cope with.

i was using "C:/Games/Warcraft III/maps/download/New Folder" to put the maps i often host...
now i'm using "C:/Games/Warcraft III/maps/New" and i can see my maps again...

someone in the thread on the battle.net forums said that now they have a number of characters path restriction... and the maps that were problematic in the beginnign were the big names like "Dawn Of The Dead 6.0 Beta5.w3x" and "HeroLineremixRHGOLDv8[1][1].0Protected.w3x" but maps like "BTanks858.w3x" and "DawnOfTheDead5.2F.w3x" were fine because they weren't using as many characters in their names... the limit was kinda borderline with my folder names...

it's a stupid thing they did... it really doesn't make sense to limit the path like this, but i can only fix it, i can't do anything about it...

edit: today, i wanted to try playing some hero line war RH... with the name of the map being: "HeroLineremixRHGOLDv8[1][1].0Protected.w3x" every person who would join would be booted as soon as they get to 100%... i figured that the name was too long... i shortened it to "HeroLineremixRHGOLDv8.w3x" and people would be able to download it...

the game is really fucked up...

Ah I had this problem I lost over 3/4 of my maps. Oh well They are gone now.

The same thing happens on Starcraft as well.. its kinda stupid but I mean they do leave a lot of characters for the game name.. none of them really need to be so LONG lol
