30 oct 2009 (USA)
Genre : Action/Jeu de rôles
Thème : Horreur
Développeur : Kerberos Productions
Editeur : Paradox Interactive

"In Fort Zombie, players will find themselves in Piety, Indiana, a small town facing a horrifying infestation of zombies with a relentless thirst for blood. Survival is only possible through finding refuge in a single, abandoned building.

Players must focus their efforts on building up this structure, finding and training survivors, and venturing out into town to look for supplies. Of course, all of this must be achieved while combating the gruesome undead, who will stop at nothing to make you part of their company.

Features:

* Take control of a single building in town as you prepare for total zombie infestation
* Gather supplies and find survivors by day, defend your building by night
* Players can engage in specific single missions within the campaign and spend hours building up the ultimate fortress
* Unique character building and reward system – each day brings new missions, each with different potential rewards. How you utilize and level up your survivors will greatly affect your chances of avoiding an ultimate zombie demise

Be prepared for the fight of your lives in Fort Zombie, available this autumn through all major digital distribution channels.

it seems to be a very badly optimised game engine... the graphics could almost be done by the first half-life game, but my q6600 and 4870 are having trouble when there is too much action... the best thing to do is press escape when you enter the new zone and pan around... zoom in and pan around again, it'll take a while before your framerate will recover, but you won't have too much loading while in-game...

the game itself is interesting... but extremely frustrating because a random hit from a shooting enemy can kill you in one shot while you can't kill enemies that easily most of the time... you also can't pick up their guns or ammo after you kill them, you have to search a LOT of places for weapons, medical stuff, weapon and more random stuff...

the camera is very frustrating, inside the buildings, it can be hard to find a way to control it and see the enemies and also it can move by itself while you're trying to shoot a zombie... moving camera whie shooting = instant miss...

there seems to be a lot of RPG elements in the background and a real-time gameplay... it just doesn't work that well... the skill gaining comes in form of a book you need to read, if you gathered a bunch of people, it can be quite a heavy read that repeats itself 10 times in a row, just saying "this character gained 5 in pistols" they say that you practiced with a pistol so you're now better at 20 skill points... you got no clue how much you gained and there is way too much superfluous text...

the compass to navigate you in the city sucks because it compresses the waypoints... making you unsure of where you're really going... if it were much wider, it could be useful, but it's very hard to know how far or close you are to your objective...

the sound is... bad... there is no music i heard other than the intro, wich is really too loud... the sound effects are not very numerous and the position of the sounds are nonexistant, you can hear a zombie attacking like he was right next to you when you don't even see him and you hear gunshots from zombified cops all over the place when they can be pretty far...

the AI is decent for the zombies, they spot you, run over to you and attack decently, but they can be outrun by simply making them get stuck on objects and fences... your allies have orrendous pathign, guetting stuck and running out of stamina while trying to follow you when you are walking because they are running from one side to another behind you for no reason... they get stuck way too often, you have to babysit them way too much...

i'd give it a 4.5/10
can be fun, but so flawed that you don't want to fight the game itself for too long... maybe future patching will fix it, i'd keep my eyes opened for when they fix it, it could be quite nice to play in the future...

people say that i'm really hard to please, but i can see that this game, with proper patching, can become quite good... the devloppers follow their forums and try to fix the game as well as they can, but the game haven't been out for a week so, i give them a chance...

did you guys expect AAA quality? it's pretty much an indie game, you don't go for the graphics for sure, you can't expect everything to turn up as well as the usual games, you have to take a look at what the game is trying to do...

i look at this and i see a game that could become much more fun than borderlands... it has much more potential than a "MMOFPS" to me... indie games and mods bring the bigger improvements to the game mechanics than all those big-selling AAA titles...

I would have been very, very surprised if it actually was a good game.
Just by the looks of it and the way of presentation you can usually guess whether it's a decent game or botch. And this game looked more like the latter to me.

True that indie games usually get patched more throughoutly than games of big companies, but judging from your report, Misho, I guess they'll have a lot to patch before it's going to do any good.

Why yes it was a review and your right there could be alot of patching to make it better. but when you released an "unfinished game" well that drives people away and you may never get those numbers back
