Alright, I found the time to go through the ideas in detail now.
What I can say is that Sentry Gun - Burst Mode made it in, just with a different name (Twin-link). I'm experimenting with the numbers right now, but 175% bonus damage for 3 mana per shot seems to be a nice trade.
Some things such as the Knocker or D.A.W.N. Ammunition pose too much technical problems and I don't want to put up with that for so little gain (at least not in the near future).
There is something like the Prototype II, uhmm highly classified ofc so I am unable to tell your any more :p
The Explosive Ammunition gave me a nice skill idea, maybe for the MG (who lacks some skills anyway). Covering a target(-area) with small explosions that whittle down and/or stun enemies.
The Experimental Unit is definately not to my liking. Some of the spells are illogical (instict control), impossible (equilibrium bullets) or impractical (the showdown stuff). It doesn't have much connection to real Army occupations and no thematic focus.
I also don't think that officers need more passive bonuses (which affects suggestions from the Improvements category). In addition, skills with many levels (e.g. +1% per rank) increase loading time and in-game lags when selecting units.
Seein' Through is a good idea, but the maximum sight limit in Warcraft III is 1800 units and you can get pretty close to that already (Scout + Rifle Scope).
I won't add any out-of-the-line missions for now, but something like Water Drain or Car / Transport Mission could prove quite interesting and refreshing. First of all the story line has to be finished, though. And there's still one or two more side missions to do until that happens.
The Weilder wouldn't only be a technical horror for me (and everyone ought to use it), but with Ammunition Count it sounds obsolete to me. The rookies who aren't able to use their ammo will die. Those who are unwilling to share their ammo will die too, even if it might not take a zombie to rid the world from him.
If I find the time and motivation I might add some things from the Zombies-section. A zombie that grows by "eating" bullets sounds fun - becoming stronger the closer he is to dying.
There'll be some asssassin-type enemies in B8 who have shape-shift. Not as good as blink, but can still be a pain in your well-armored ass.
About the Rookie's Star as a substitute for the Veterancy Medal: The Vet Med is a token of appreciation for battle-scarred experts who have cheated death many times in their years of service. Dedication and endurance must be honored accordingly.
Thought of the day: For those who seek perfection there can be no rest on this side of the grave.
