Next Update - Dawn Of The Dead 5.3a Beta 2 out!

- Deleted most of the remainings of the 5.2 code, except of the save/load system
- Disposed of futile variables.
- Some minor icon updates.
- Maximum amount of zombies during Deathmatch is now limited depending on the number of players.
- During Deathmatch, the attack of another player's heroes/barricades/etc will now drain bullets, whereas during survival you still can attack others without loss of bullets.
- In DM you'll now receive XP for a hero kill depending on a hero's level. It should be 50% of the hero's level.
- You'll now not drop your ammunition when you die in DM.
- In DM, heroes will not gain XP from killing barriacdes or sentries. Turrets will give a few XP.
- The Scout's Artillery Ability's delay got reduced. It's damage got slightly boosted.
- Adjusted the XP you receive from killing zombies (ghouls: a bit less; gargs/bosses: a bit more)
- Changes Thanks&Credits in the Quest Log. Should now be a little more accurate Smile

Beta 2 is as good as uploaded.

hm... in my eyes, in D-Mark modus the exp you get from killing heroes should not that much depend on the level - it would be better if you either make a fixed amount or some steps (like: level 1 to 50 gives you 10exp, level 51 to 100 gives you 20exp etc...).

the big disadvantage with making it 50% of heroes exp is in my eyes that killing a fully leveled guy gives MUCH exp (may i ask what experience equals max level btw?). the problem would for example be that its not necessary more difficult to kill such a hero with, e.g. mines or explosives.

2nd point would be abuse of friendly-fire to get exp... (let others kill you on purpose).

in my opinion, you should just disable exp in DM mode entirely. you gain exp when playing the game and doing so gives you more and more power in DM. the other way round would be like... cheating - or making it easy to cheat. =)

btw: i think i will make a seperate thread with no-reply permission (except you ofc) that gathers all your version updates. so we see what has been fixed already... ill do that when im back later.

The XP gain for a kill is not 50% of the killed hero's exp, but of his level^^ a level 200 hero will give 100xp - at the moment a kill cannot reach over ~71xp (due to level 140 save limitation)

Edit: Max exp for a lvl200 hero is arround 2.100.000. Don't know the other values by heart. Level 150 was kinda 1.100.000, I think.
Edit2: The Deathmatch doesn't have any ending atm, btw. The game could go on forever ^.^
Edit3: Good idea with the no-reply thread^^ As a tempoary solution I've just deleted the posts of other people in the DL Centre Twisted Evil

I got 2 heros. There was this level 200 dude in the middle "Carl Harryson"

I've got a bug:
When the host dies, the player list shows only the host, and not other players that are still alive.

And, dunno if it has a relation, but when everyone has leaved, i pressed F10 and the game crashed..

Bug's already corrected and download links updates. Though, you cant play Deathmath, since only player 1 can choose =) will corrects that soon.

The crash didn't get caused by DotD in the first place.

Does the multiboard error only appear when the host dies, or does have have to die and leave the game? Cuz if was only the death that's causing this, it would be more than strange.

First Update

- Every player can now choose a hero in Deathmatch mode.
- The hitpoints of zombies got slightly decreased.
- The respawn chance of ghouls reduced from 60% to 50%.
- Heroes will now properly drop their ammunition after death .. really this time.
- The Forum URL now appears more frequently in the hints.
- The Selection Circle and floating text for each Hero in the Selection Area will now disappear when it's selection limit is reached (e.g.: Once for engineer, twice for Operative).
- The Demolitions Napalm has now a complete tooltip.
- Duration of the Nuke special effect increased.
- Flare gun's damage & movement speed loss slightly reduced.
- A Deathmatch game now ends when a player scored 20 kills.
- At the end of a Deathmatch there will be a zombie types that cannot be found in Survival.

If I may add this... Infection rocks in 5.3a. Much more harmful than before.. Mr. Green

I would prefer a less chance, but its still better than before.
Damn ghoul respawed 5 times.

I was hosting and we were about 3 guys remaining, during wave 2. Then I died (stupidly..) because of fatty's punch. Immediately after this, the multiboard showed only my name. I asked Kidshaman who was playing with me if he had the same multiboard view, and he had. I'll post the replay later when I'm back home. And I'll try to repeat the bug too (death from fatty's hand on wave 2).

The only thing that I could think of as a possible, but improbable, cause is that the multiboard thried to display a value for like Player -1, but I am pretty sure that this didn't happen, and even if it did there should only be an error message, not a game crash. The fact that fatty killed you for sure doesn't have anything to do with it - more likely the number of players alive/dead, which color they have and that it was you (the first player) that died.
A replay would be very helpful Smile

Edit: Furthermore should be multiboard only re-arrange the players when one players leaves the game, a marine's death should not do any more than setting it's health status to 0%.

Ok, I'm tracing the error. Can someone please translate this:
Espace insuffisant pour traiter cette commande.

For me ^.^ Since I can barely read french. I'll consult a few wise
people about mulitboard issues - choub's crash rep seems to be caused by the multiboard.. lol.
It's kinda... I already made a dozen multiboard, all in some way not working ~ now when I finally got one working it
might be the thing that crashes the game, ohhh I could kill myself x.x

Edit: Back home, I searched the replay where I got the multiboard problem. But unfortunately, as the game crashes at the end, there were no replay done.. I'll try to repeat the problem.

Uhmm.. ya.. I solved it Very Happy

Because of 2 little letters (I searched half an eternity for them..) the mutliboard got shortened by 2 rows everytime a player leaves. Normally it should only be 1..
Thus the MB reaches a negative number of rows at some point - and then it crashes.
Expect a new beta today or tomorrow Smile.
And vote for us!! ^^ we almost reached the 5th place!!

Haha, great, i had this crash (or bug,or i dont know how to call it Razz) too. It happens even today, after we play together (one of the best game ever done cause there were no noobs Very Happy ).
Thx for own the bug.
